Geschwindigkeitsgeregelte Antriebe und Bremsen (bahnzugregelbarer Antrieb) - Frequency- and RPM-controlled worm-gear motor combinations that can either drive (rewinder) or brake (decoiler) a winding shaft with continuously adjustable torque. They are the heart of web-tension control. Supplier: Mädler (Germany) - worm-gear motors (Schneckengetriebemotoren Mädler).

Each drive requires a separate frequency controller (e.g. Siemens / Danfoss). Approx. 350 3D hull models are required to cover all drive/gear combinations for the online shaft configurator.
Pricing
Per the table above - gear-dependent. Frequency controller is priced separately. Drives are used as brakes by dissipating energy across the frequency controller's braking resistor. Mädler is a German supplier - for cost optimisation the same gearbox/motor class may be sourced from a Chinese equivalent, then CE-labelled.
