Description

The UM 90 is a hardened, ground circular knife ring (Messerring / Untermesser) that fits onto a driven Messerwelle / Schneidwalze. Its outer cutting edge shears against a round knife in an SMK cassette. Several rings are set at the desired web-slit positions.

Grub-screw fastening (UM 90/105/140) allows fast positioning; the shrink-disc fastening of UM 193 avoids marking the shaft under high cut loads. Knife-ring speed must be set 3-5 % faster than the web; overlap 0.5 - 1 mm with the SMK round knife.
