SMK200 Knife Cassette

Shear cutting: when cutting in the direction of web travel the web contacts knife rings mounted on a driven roller. Their circumferential speed is 3 % to 5 % higher than the web speed.

Knife holders are mounted on the opposite side. Each holder has a vertical and a horizontal stroke axis. The vertical axis dips the shear-cut circular blade through the web, which then moves a short horizontal distance to rest face-on against the knife ring. Overlap is 0.5 mm to 1 mm.

Large size. For cutting heavy webs such as thick aluminium foils and laminates, two knife shafts with overlapping knife rings are suitable.

In cross cutting the web is stationary. On one side the web touches a cutting ruler. The knife cassette with the shear-cut circular knife is on the opposite side and is pressed against the cutting ruler. The cassette is pulled across the web width parallel to the ruler, and the circular knife cuts the web. Cutting speeds of up to 2000 m/min are possible. Cutting performance is much higher than with crush cutting.
