QMK98/76.2 Crush-Cut Knife Cassette

Crush cutting: a circular blade rolls on a hard surface. Paper, film, textiles or foams lying on that surface are cut. The blade is normally pressed pneumatically onto the hard surface in a vertical stroke. Contact force is set just high enough for the material to be cut reliably.

As the blade becomes blunt and stops cutting reliably, pneumatic pressure is simply increased a little. The result is a clean, burr-free cut edge. This method reaches cutting speeds of up to 300 m/min. It requires no high investment, but its cutting capacity is limited.

Application: thin webs of paper, textiles, plastic film, rubber, cellular rubber.
