How it is calculated

How do you calculate the grammage of a film?

Grammage in g/m² = density in g/cm³ × thickness in µm. Example: PE film at 0.92 g/cm³ and 50 µm weighs 0.92 × 50 = 46 g/m².

How do you calculate thickness from grammage?

Thickness in µm = grammage in g/m² ÷ density in g/cm³. Example: 25 g/m² BOPP ÷ 0.905 = about 27.6 µm.

What is the yield?

The yield tells you how many square metres one kilogram of material covers: m²/kg = 1000 ÷ grammage. 46 g/m² gives about 21.7 m²/kg.
