How it is calculated

How do you calculate the length of a roll?

Length = π × (D² − d²) ÷ (4 × thickness). D is the roll outside diameter, d the core outside diameter, all in the same unit. Example: a 600 mm roll on a 90 mm core with 50 µm film holds about 5,500 m.

How do you calculate the roll diameter from the length?

Diameter = √(d² + 4 × length × thickness ÷ π), where d is the core outside diameter.

How do you calculate the roll weight?

Weight = length × web width × grammage. For film, grammage in g/m² = density in g/cm³ × thickness in µm, e.g. PE 0.92 × 50 µm = 46 g/m².
